Adobe stops investing in iPhone Flash development tools

After Apples slap into Adobes face Flash owner agreed that they will stop investing in iPhone Flash development tools until further notice. The iPhone packager will still be shipped with the new release of Flash IDE (Flash CS5) but will not be developed further, after Apples last announcement developers will not be able to sell Flash apps converted with iPhone packager on AppStore.

Don’t you worry Adobe is only giving up on iPhone they will strongly support Android Flash development (the private betas already started). Mike Chambers (Principal Product Manager of Adobe) confirmed that Adobe will now focus on Android which is doing really good lately.

This whole situation is sick, I really think about switching to some Android based phone like Nexus One. If Apple will keep up with this kind of policy it will be the most hated company among developers, also the people who are hurt here are not only developers but users too, most of them use Flash based Apps/Games each day.

  • I regret that Adobe lost a lot of work on a good product. But, I am replacing all my Apple devices with other devices, and I’ll never own another Apple device.

I’m waiting on the HTC Incredible, for Vz. :D

  • “I’m waiting on the HTC Incredible, for Vz. :D”

    Who cares.

  • I think apple will regrette this one day :P
The doubt about apple is growing …

  • Let’s be clear, Adobe IS the most hated company among developers. That still doesn’t mean that they are going to make huge dents in their market share every time they make a decision that pisses people off.

Plenty of devs are locked in a need/hate relationship with Apple, and whether or not they want to ditch Apple for a new product, they can’t because they are already locked in.

This type of news doesn’t surprise me anymore, Apple has always been shitty to it’s developers.

Also, there are plenty of people on the fence (like me) who are almost ready to get a new phone and probably won’t go with Apple, but I don’t know how much that is really going to hurt their bottom line.

Apparently you do. Since you cared enough to comment.

  • @Robert “Let’s be clear, Adobe IS the most hated company among developers. ” Did you mean Apple instead of Adobe?

  • I think Apple will lose allot of customers among developers, unless they change their policy.

  • @robert

No Let’s actually be clear. You’re assertion / opinion is that Adobe is hated among developers. source?
