Today Lee Brimelow has posted new video which shows the most important features of Flash CS5 Professional. You can watch the video on gotoAndLearn.com This material is over 27 minutes long, it was really fun to watch because for me it was a dream come true (Thanks Adobe). I was so happy when I saw those new features I wanted to dance around the room :P Adobe really started to listen to the community! Below I post some most important features of an up coming release:
- iPhone capability, with Flash CS5 you will be able to publish app’s for iPhone (learn more),
- the start up window wont display on top of every application (I am so glad they finally though of this),
- snippets panel for ActionScript coding,
- Flash Builder integration, now you can hit cmd/ctrl+enter in Flash Builder and it will automatically switch to flash and compile,
- code completion for custom AS classes in Flash IDE,
- new xfl format, instead of fla you can save project to xfl and all the data of your project will be stored in xml files,
- new skins for the video player,
- text field character embedding panel,
- advanced text field options, really cool features (column etc.).
Those are the new features I remembered after watching Lee’s video. Can’t wait to try it out, I think I am more excited about CS5 then CS4 :) The only think that bothers me is that under the save as option I haven’t see the Save to: Flash CS3 :/ I hope they will implement this.

Well all the new features are totally useless to me, with the exception of been able to see the video imported on the stage, thats good, but all the rest are good only for programers and website designers etc.., I work with animated cartoon characters, and what concerns my job, there was no improvement at all on CS5, no bettter brush and its properties, and be able to rotate the stage when inking the sketch like in the Toon Boom for instance, the bones tool of cs4 and 5 is totally useless for cartoon character, you can’t nest anything with those tupid armateurs, it should be like in Toon Boom where the symbols work connected with eachother, but also in separated layers and easy to move one by one when you need. Adobe defenitly doesn’t give a S____! about cartoon character artists. they develop things for programers and web designers, stiff and boring things!. Anyway I hope CS5 doesn’t freeze and crash as much as CS4, well whatever, because I am not going to buy or trial it, thats for sure, I wait for CS6, but curently, slowly migrating to Toon Boom, hopefully I will never turn back, Thanks adobe for NOTHING!.
