Last Few Weeks

Much has changed since my last post, last few wees where crazy. Flash Builder 4 was officially released. I was trying to work with it but I failed. At the beginning I had some trouble with CPU usage (it was around 100%) when I finally managed to run it I started to have trouble with code hinting… after two days of struggle I went back to Flex Builder 3. I will go back to Flash Builder 4 when Flash CS5 will come out (I really like the new CS5 look).

I am sure that most of you already now about this, twitter and other social networks are full of comments regarding that announcement but I will right about it anyway.
Last week Steve Jobs has announced that Apple has added new rule to the App Store policy: iPhone and iPad applications must be originally written in C/C++/Objective-C, which means that we wont be able to port Flash apps into iPhone. That’s a slap into Adobes face. Apple announced this news week before Adobe revealed their new CS5 suite. The new key feature of Flash CS5 was the ability to export flash projects as iPhone apps, after Steves announcement it wont be possible. Not only Adobe is hurt by this new rule but also projects like Unity3D or monoTouch. I don’t know why Steve is doing this but he is digging his own grave. The Flash community is boiling from anger and disappointment. I personally start to despise Apple, maybe it’s time to switch back to Windows?

Yesterday Adobe has unleveled their new CS5 Creative Suite, we can already pre-order it from adobes site. I watched the presentation closely and I must say that the CS5 has many great features. There is only one thing I don’t understand, why Adobe says that we are still able to export our apps to iphone? We can export them but we wont be able to sell them on App Store.

Here is a great article which sums up the new features of Flash CS5.

  • First of all new Flash Builder is terrible slow. It doesn`t have runtime error checking. You have to save your file and wait until your project has been built and then you have your error checking.(If you want you can turn off automatic building – but no error checking until launching your app). I`m really waiting for FDT4 – it will be geat :)

Second I think Lee Brimelow said enough: http://theflashblog.com/?p=1888

Last – maybe Adobe will leave export to iPhone option in Flash CS5 so Flash devs could create apps for themselves (I know I will – and I don`t see other reasons since it is illegal in general), or maybe Adobe wants to flood the market with illegal little AS3 iPhone games and apps to destory AppStore in act of revenge of flash not beeing on apple devices (joke:))
