This years Worldwide Developer Conference brought us a lot of news. It has started yesterday in San Francisco and will last till June 12. You can already watch the video from the keynote on apples site. The sad think about this years keynote is that Steve Jobs didn’t show up. The most important announcements of the keynote are:
iPhone 3GS and iPhone OS 3.0

The new iPhone 3GS (S stands for speed) will be available for US customers on June 17th, along with Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Great Britain and Switzerland. iPhone 3GS will be available like the old iPhone in two color versions white and black – the 16GB version will cost 199$ and for the 32GB version we will have to pay 299$. The old iPhone 3G will now cost only 99$!
New Features:
- 3Mpx camera with auto-focus and ability to record video
- longer battery life, up to 5 hours of voice talk (3G), 12 hours EDGE, 9 hours WIFI, 30 hours audio, 10 hours video
- as apple said it’s up to two times faster then the old iPhone 3G
- Voice Control – ability to control iPhone through the voice (it works for the iPhone and the build-in iPod)
- digital compass
- 7.2 Mbps HSDPA
That’s all, the other differences are coming from the new OS 3.0
Main new features of 3.0 firmware:
- MMS (doesn’t work in iPhone 2G)
- horizontal keyboard in Email, Safari, SMS and Notes)
- Copy/Paste
- Spotlight
- voice notes
- calendar with MS Exchange support
- ability to buy TV shows and movies directly through iPhone
- faster Safari
- iPhone can be used as modem
- shake to shuffle – shake your iPhone to change the song
- new languages
- Find my iPhone – helps find your lost iPhone (uses MobileMe).

Refreshed MacBooks Pro

The new MacBook Pro comes in three screen sizes: 13”, 15” and 17” All of them have new battery that only apple service can replace but they offer 7 hours of work on the battery (for MacBook 13” and 15”) and up to 8 hours for MacBook 17”! The new MacBooks also have FireWire 800 and SD card slot.

Snow Leopard
Apple announced that their new OS (Snow Leopard) will be released in September 2009. The pricing for new Mac OS X is very promising. For users of Mac OS X 10.5 upgrade will cost only 29$! Family pack will cost 49$, the other version will cost 129$. People who will buy Mac after 8 of June will have to pay only 9.95$ for the upgrade!
Main advantages of OS X 10.6:
- faster installation
- it will occupy 6GB less hard drive space then OS X 10.5!
- better performance for Mail, Safari and Spotlight
- Microsoft Exchange support
- better performance for multi-core CPU
- Dock with integrated Expose functionality
- new Quick Time X

Safari 4

New Apple Safari is the fastest web browser in the word. Full version of Safari 4 is available for download from apple.com
New Features:
- Top sites- visual overview of the favorite websites
- full history search – title, url and content of the website.
- Cover Flow – simple cover flow view of your bookmarks or history
- web zoom
- nitro engine – increased performance
New Safari is available for: Mac OX Tiger, Mac OSX Leopard, Windows XP SP2 and Windows Vista.
For me there were some great announcements on this year WWDC. I really love the new MacBooks Pro (especially 13,3”) and the pricing for Snow Leopard ;) What I don’t like is that I thought there will be some design changes in the iPhones look and meaby the iPhone nano will be announced, but I don’t care any more :P
